Release Athens 2023 welcome<\/span>s Prodigy on Friday, July 21<\/span>st<\/span>, at Plateia <\/span>Nerou<\/span>. The greatest act <\/span>of the electronic music <\/span>returns to Greece, after a long time, for an energy-fueled night of <\/span>non-stop dancing.<\/span><\/p>\n

Liam Howlett, Prodigy’s mastermind, formed the group in 1990, heavily influenced by the -usually- illegal rave parties that swept every corner of the UK<\/span> at the time<\/span>. It was through these<\/span>parties<\/span> that he <\/span>found his bandmates, the<\/span> ravers Keith Flint and Leroy Thornhill, and shortly afterwards a fourth member, MC Maxim, was added to the group. With their first singles being the dance anthems “Charly” and “Everybody in the Place”, Prodigy managed to become the number one electronic music act in Europe before they even released their first album.<\/span><\/p>\n

Their debut, “Experience”, was a milestone for dance music while the album that followed, the <\/span>thrilling<\/span> “Music for the Jilted Generation”, <\/span>propelled<\/span> the scene (as a whole) into the big concert arenas, <\/span>by adding something similar to rock\u2019n\u2019roll\u2019s swagger<\/span>. Nearly thirty years after its release, it remains a landmark <\/span>LP<\/span>, an unsurpassed achievement that has never stopped, nor will it ever stop, influencing <\/span>the<\/span> next<\/span> generations<\/span> of producers and artists<\/span> of the scene<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

By the end of the<\/span> 90s<\/span>, Prodigy <\/span>would release<\/span> the amazing “The Fat of the Land” which took the group, without any exaggeration, to the top of the world. The album would <\/span>reach<\/span> number 1 in sixteen countries (including the UK and the USA), with over 10 million sales, and the group would now establish themselves as one of the top live acts on the planet.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prodigy would go on to release four more albums, once again managing to top the UK charts (all four <\/span>of them <\/span>would reach number 1) but everything would change in March 2019 with the shock of Keith Flint’s <\/span>passing<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

It took three years for Howlett to announce, in March 2022, that the group <\/span>would return to touring<\/span>, celebrating 25 years since the release of “The Fat of the Land” and honoring the memory of its great <\/span>frontman<\/span>. Their ten sold out UK shows <\/span>were<\/span> lauded by audiences and critics alike, with the <\/span>music <\/span>press <\/span>noting<\/span> that “Prodigy are not only back, but they are here to reclaim their throne”.<\/span><\/p>\n

On Friday<\/span>,<\/span> July<\/span> 21<\/span>st<\/span>, <\/span>Plateia <\/span>Nerou<\/span> will <\/span>vibrate<\/span> with some of the <\/span>greatest songs that came out of the <\/span>electronic music <\/span>scene <\/span>(“Breathe”, “Voodoo People”, “Firestarter”, “Out <\/span>Of<\/span> Space”, “Smack My Bitch Up”, “Omen”, “Their Law” and many more) in a concert<\/span>\/<\/span>celebration, from a legendary band.<\/span><\/p>\n
