In 2023, Release Athens<\/a> and SNF Nostos<\/a>from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF)<\/a>arejoining forces to present three unique days of concerts on two stages. On Friday, June 23, after the headliners Siouxsie and Interpol, and Echo & The Bunnymen and Viagra Boys, we will welcome two moregreat bands.<\/p>\n

Ladytron<\/strong>, leading figures on the electro-pop scene, will take the stage at Plateia Nerou while at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC)<\/a> Great Lawn, we will welcome The Haunted Youth<\/strong>, one of the best newcomers of the European indie pop\/rock scene.<\/p>\n

More artists will be announced soon, both for this same day and for the other two days of the festival that are part of this collaboration. Release Athens X SNF Nostos is taking place on June 20, 21, and 23, presenting acclaimed Greek and international artists at Plateia Nerou and at the SNFCC Great Lawn, giving us the chance to experience an electrifying three-day concert event that will be an integral part of Release Athens 2023.<\/p>\n

The overall lineup on Friday, June 23, so far is:<\/p>\n

Plateia Nerou<\/strong>: Siouxsie<\/strong>, Echo & The Bunnymen<\/strong>, Ladytron<\/strong><\/p>\n

SNFCC Great Lawn<\/strong>: Interpol<\/strong>, Viagra Boys<\/strong>, The Haunted Youth<\/strong><\/p>\n

Originating in Liverpool, the band, made up of Helen Marnie, Daniel Hunt, Mira Aroyo and Reuben Wu, earned two decades of acclaim by relentlessly pushing boundaries, carving out new sonic space by refusing to abide by formula or trend.<\/p>\n

At the beginning they were known for shows in unconventional venues and placed emphasis on countries and cities other than their own. Thus, the Ladytron\u2019s international recognition quickly grew by playing shows in countries where few artists went at that time. After their first three, very successful releases –604<\/em>, Light & Magic<\/em>, Witching Hour<\/em>– they were invited to perform with artists such as Bjork, Nine Inch Nails and Brian Eno. Eno remarked in an interview, \u201cLadytron are, for me, the best of British pop music\u201d.<\/p>\n

Following an eight-year hiatus and several side projects, 2019 saw a new chapter open for Ladytron. Their eponymous sixth album was released to critical acclaim just like this year\u2019s record, Time\u2019s Arrow<\/em>, with several standout tracks like \u201cCity of Angels\u201d and \u201cFaces\u201d.<\/p>\n

Get ready for a spectacular show, full of electro-pop anthems like \u201cSeventeen\u201d, \u201cPlaygirl\u201d, \u201cGhosts\u201d, \u201cDestroy Everything You Touch\u201d etc. from an exceptional band!<\/p>\n

The Haunted Youth from Belgium, are the brainchild of Joachim Liebens. His beautiful songs focus on his sad, teenage years and at the very essence of being young and hopeful. His debut album, the dream-pop Dawn Of The Freak<\/em> (2022), strike a chord with fans of Slowdive, The Cure, My Bloody Valentine and DIIV.<\/p>\n

Their early singles \u201cComing Home\u201d, \u201cGone\u201d and \u201cBroken\u201d attracted attention in Belgium and The Netherlands and soon after, UK and USA followed. \u201cTeen Rebel\u201d become an indie anthem and was described as a song \u201cyou think you\u2019ve known all your life, like a close friend that wrap his arms around you\u201d, while the more recent \u201cI Feel Like Shit And I Wanna Die\u201d seems destined to become the next, big indie hit.<\/p>\n

The Haunted Youth\u2019s performance at Release Athens X SNF Nostos will mark their first visit in Greece, during an extensive tour with shows at major festivals like Rock Werchter, Pink pop and Sziget. One thing is certain: many more will follow!<\/p>\n
