Release Athens 2025<\/strong> welcomes The Prodigy<\/strong> on Friday July 4th<\/sup><\/strong> at Plateia Nerou<\/strong>. Liam Howlett<\/strong> and Maxim<\/strong> bring a new wave of fire along with Leo Crabtree (drums) and Rob Holliday (guitar), and will once again remind us why they remain at the forefront of the electronic scene for 34 years, despite the loss of their brother Keith Flint in 2019. This time, the Godfathers of Rave return with an even bigger production and a greatest hits set as well as material from their forthcoming new album.<\/p>\n

In 1990, inspired by UK’s underground rave scene, Liam Howlett<\/strong> laid the foundations for one of the most influential bands in the history of electronic music. With Keith Flint<\/strong> and Leroy Thornhill<\/strong> at their original core, followed by MC Maxim<\/strong>, Prodigy’s first singles \u201cCharly<\/strong>\u201d and \u201cEverybody In The Place<\/strong>\u201d established them as the leading act in European dance music even before they released their first album.<\/p>\n

Their debut \u201cExperience<\/strong>\u201d was a milestone for dance music, while their next album \u201cMusic for the Jilted Generation<\/strong>\u201d remains a landmark LP of the last thirty years, a groundbreaking record that never stopped \u2013 nor will it ever stop – influencing future generations.<\/p>\n

The peak of their success came in the late 90s with \u201cThe Fat of the Land<\/strong>\u201d. The album reached number one in 16 countries, including the UK and US, and sold over 10 million copies, while their live performances were recognised as one of the world’s best live experiences.<\/p>\n

The band continued their success with four more albums which, like the previous ones, topped the UK charts, creating an unprecedented run of seven consecutive number one releases. However, the unexpected passing of Keith Flint in March 2019 marked a dramatic turning point in the band’s history.<\/p>\n

Since 2022 and their return to live performances, Prodigy have swept all the major festival arenas (Reading, Leeds, Isle of Wight etc.) and perform a huge sold-out tour in the UK and the rest of Europe. This year, as they prepare the material for their new album, they return to the stage with renewed spirit and energy, ready to sweep everything in their path, performing live a series of unsurpassed tracks that have shaped modern music over the last few decades: “Firestarter”, “No Good (Start The Dance)”, “Breathe”, “Out Of Space”, “Smack My Bitch Up”, “Voodoo People”, “Poison”, “Their Law”, “Omen”, “Invaders Must Die”, “Take Me To The Hospital” and many more.
