Release Athens 2026<\/strong> welcomes Moby<\/strong> on Wednesday July 1st<\/sup><\/strong>, at Plateia Nerou<\/strong>. The American superstar, widely regarded as one of the most important and popular figures in electronic music, is making a highly anticipated return to touring with a spectacular show featuring the greatest hits of his illustrious career.<\/p>\n

If there’s one thing you can say for sure about Moby<\/strong>, it’s that he’s never been afraid to try new things. This has meant playing in punk bands, experimenting with ambient music, writing speed metal songs and, above all, producing some of the biggest dance hits of all time.<\/p>\n

Of course, it all started with a sample from Angelo Badalamenti’s Twin Peaks soundtrack, which he used in the timeless anthem \u201cGo<\/strong>\u201d (1991). This was followed by a series of great releases, such as \u201cEverything Is Wrong<\/strong>\u201d, which definitively established him as one of the most important artists in electronic music. However, the turning point in his career would come later with the release of \u201cPlay<\/strong>\u201d (1999), which propelled him to pop stardom. By combining blues and gospel samples with electronica in songs such as “Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?<\/strong>” and “Natural Blues<\/strong>“, Moby broke new ground and brought dance music into the mainstream.<\/p>\n

Since then, he has continued to evolve, forging his own path. \u201c18\u201d (2002) repeated the success of \u201cPlay\u201d, with sales exceeding four million. In contrast, \u201cHotel\u201d (2005) was recorded live in the studio without samples, marking a departure from his earlier style. Then, with his side project Moby & The Void Pacific Choir<\/strong>, he released \u201cThese Systems Are Failing\u201d (2016), an industrial electropunk album reminiscent of the intensity of his earlier \u201cAnimal Rights\u201d (1996). In the same year, he released \u201cLong Ambients 1: Calm. Sleep” -a four-hour ambient album- that stands as a testament to the artist’s unwavering commitment to delving into the intricacies of the musical genres that pique his interest.<\/p>\n

With sales of over 20 million albums worldwide and an ever-evolving career, Moby remains one of the most authentic and independent voices in contemporary music. We are particularly delighted to welcome him back to Release Athens after many years, for the biggest show he has ever performed in Greece.<\/p>\n
