Gramatik, born Denis Jašarević, has developed a unique sound that combines hip-hop, funk and soul with electronic elements. Raised in Portorož, Slovenia, he grew up listening to funk, jazz and soul from his older sister’s cassette collection and was already making beats on his computer by the age of 13. He first gained international recognition through his pioneering approach to music distribution, releasing much of his catalog for free while consistently supporting more open models of access to music.
His discography includes numerous albums, EPs, singles and remixes, while some of his best-known tracks include “Just Jammin’”, “Hit That Jive” and “Muy Tranquilo”. More recent releases include Deserts of Synthopia (2022), created alongside Luxas, and Aequoreus (2025), where he explores new sonic directions. At the same time, he continues his long-running creative partnership with his friend and collaborator Stehreo. Now based in New York City, he remains one of the most recognizable figures of the independent electronic music scene.
