About Us

The great festival of Athens!

Release Athens launched in 2016 and since then has became one of the most important summer music events in Greece centered on Plateia Nerou, a beautiful seaside venue within minutes of downtown Athens.

While the festival took form in turbulent times, with extroversion and optimism as its main mottos, Release rejuvenated the concert events in the country, believing in the liberating power of music – from which, after all, it took its name.

Our goal

Release Athens strives to satisfy as many musical genres as possible, without any limits or boundaries. Over the first four years of its existence, it has presented a multitude of outstanding artists:

Iggy Pop, P.J. Harvey, Richard Ashcroft, Sigur Ros, New Order, Jamiroquai, Alice In Chains, Cypress Hill, Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, Beirut, Hozier, Rag’n’Bone Man, Thievery Corporation, Johnny Marr, Manowar, Disturbed, Clutch, Anthrax, The Black Angels, Slowdive, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Fu Manchu, 1000mods, Cigarettes After Sex, Planet Of Zeus, Parov Stelar, Moderat, Royksopp, DIIV, Shame, Fontaines D.C., Morcheeba, Roisin Murphy, Daughter, Archive, Third World, Kadebostany, Postmodern Jukebox, Hollie Cook are some of the acts who have graced the festival with their presence thus far, and there is much more to come.

Our brand name

The Greek audience – and not only them, since Release Athens already attracts a significant number of attendees from all over the world – has embraced the festival to such an extent that it has become a cultural institution in the country. As a result, Release Athens returns bigger and better year after year.

This growth can be attributed not only to its diverse and rich line-up, but also to the high standard of production as well as the conditions it provides to its guests. It is a genuine and all- encompassing experience, offering real excitement and quality services to both artists and audiences who honor it with their presence.
