Release Athens 2026: After an Unforgettable Finale at the Great Lawn, the Baton Passes to Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Last night at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center’s Great Lawn, Jean-Michel Jarre delivered one of the most fully realised audiovisual experiences in contemporary electronic music, a true feast of sound and imagery that precisely mapped the evolution of the genre over the past fifty years. His set featured landmark pieces from across his career (“Oxygène (Part 4)”, “Équinoxe (Part 4)”, “Magnetic Fields (Part 2)”, “Rendez-Vous 4”, among others) and served as a reminder that he remains one of the most innovative voices in the music world.
Sébastien Tellier opened the evening, providing the ideal transition into Jarre’s unparalleled spectacle with his more introspective yet unmistakable aesthetic.
The festival continues tomorrow, Wednesday June 24th, at Plateia Nerou, with performances from two major artists. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds will perform an extended set of up to 2.5 hours, while Baxter Dury will open the night with another extended set featuring one of the most distinctive albums of 2025, the addictive Allbarone.
