Release Athens 2026: After an Unforgettable Finale at the Great Lawn, the Baton Passes to Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Last night at the Great Lawn (SNFCC), Jean-Michel Jarre delivered one of the most complete audiovisual experiences in contemporary electronic music—a spectacular fusion of sound and visuals that precisely captured the evolution of the genre over the past fifty years. His set featured compositions from across his career, including “Oxygène (Part 4),” “Équinoxe (Part 4),” “Magnetic Fields (Part 2),” and “Rendez-Vous 4,” among others, reaffirming his status as one of the most innovative creatives in music.
Earlier in the evening, Sébastien Tellier opened the show with his introspective yet unmistakably distinctive aesthetic, providing the perfect lead-in to Jarre’s unparalleled sonic and visual spectacle.
The festival continues tomorrow, Wednesday, June 24, at the Water Square with two more major acts. Nick Cave returns alongside The Bad Seeds for an extended set lasting up to two and a half hours, while Baxter Dury will open the night with an extended performance, bringing with him one of 2025’s most distinctive releases: the addictive Allbarone.
