Before heading to Plateia Nerou, please take a moment to read the following guide. It contains all the essential information for access and parking, so you can arrive comfortably and on time, and enjoy the festival stress-free from the outset.
The most relaxing option to approach the venue is by public transport. The tram and nearby bus lines will take you very close to Plateia Nerou. If you enjoy walking, the electric railway from Karaiskaki station is another reasonable option. See all public transport options here: https://www.releaseathens.gr/en/transportation/
If you are coming by car, make sure to set off early to allow time to find a parking space and avoid traffic. There are various parking options near the festival venue, including the outdoor car park next to the Taekwondo Indoor Arena, the Aviation Parking, and the parking near Flisvos Marina.
As an alternative, you can park at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre (SNFCC) and walk across the Esplanade. This route is short, beautiful and safe for pedestrians and cyclists.
Free parking is available for VIP ticket holders at the outdoor car park of the Taekwondo Indoor Arena, which is within walking distance of the festival entrance. Check here!
If you have a ticket for people with disabilities, there is a designated parking area with direct access to the special platform with an unobstructed view of the stage. Access is easy and the area serves both spectators with mobility difficulties and their companions. Check here!
Also, avoid parking on pavements, at pedestrian crossings, or in places that obstruct pedestrian and vehicle traffic. Some people already face difficulties, so it is everyone’s responsibility to respect public spaces. Remember, there are fines for these offences issued by the Kallithea municipal police.
Take a few minutes to familiarise yourself with the layout of Plateia Nerou, to help you easily find whatever you might need during your time at the festival venue.
As soon as you arrive, make sure you get the tokens you’ll need for food and drink. The day’s schedule is packed, so there’s no time to waste.
To add a special touch to your experience, you can also arrive via the Kallithea Marina, where the Graffiti Festival is hosted around the perimeter of Plateia Nerou. This open space is full of colour and creativity, and makes a nice addition to the festival atmosphere.
