Baxter Dury - Lineup 2026 - Release Athens

Baxter Dury

Baxter Dury is one of the most idiosyncratic and intelligent figures in contemporary British music. For over two decades, he has been building a deeply personal world where detached, deadpan storytelling, caustic humor, and detailed social observations coexist with elegant, often unexpected musical arrangements. His stories unfold in bars, apartments, and the dark corners of London, populated by characters who are wealthy, decadent, absurd, and profoundly human.

Son of Ian Dury, he gradually managed to shake off the weight of the name and establish himself on his own terms. From his debut Len Parrot’s Memorial Lift (2002) through Floor Show (2005), he laid the foundations of a sound combining new wave, chamber pop, and sparse rhythmic forms. The major breakthrough came with Prince of Tears (2017), where disco and emotional rawness coexist perfectly, while subsequent works experimented with dance and hip-hop elements without compromising his core.

In 2023, the dark and confessional I Thought I Was Better Than You confirmed his lyrical prowess. In 2025, with Allbarone, produced by the acclaimed Paul Epworth (Adele, Florence & The Machine), he presents his most direct and contemporary work: a sharp, melodic, and deeply observant record. Baxter Dury remains a unique chronicler of urban life, with a sardonic perspective and a disarmingly honest voice.
