Supergrass - Release Athens

Supergrass

Supergrass formed in 1993 by Gaz Coombes, Danny Goffey, and Mick Quinn, went on to score a run of five Top 10 albums and ten Top 20 singles in the UK, while generating millions of sales worldwide.

From the release of “Caught By The Fuzz,” which was crowned Single of the Week by both NME and Melody Maker, Supergrass proved themselves to be an inspired band capable of effortlessly crafting outstanding songs such as the mega-hit “Alright” – one of the most feel-good tracks of the past three decades – as well as “Lenny” and “Mansize Rooster,” among many others.

Although connected to the Britpop scene, Supergrass maintained the same intensity even as that era began to fade, evolving their sound and incorporating their more psychedelic and blues influences. Beyond the commercial success they achieved, the albums that followed (“In It For The Money,” “Supergrass,” “Life On Other Planets,” etc.), featuring songs like “Richard III,” “Late In The Day,” “Mary,” “Moving,” “Pumping On Your Stereo,” and “St. Petersburg,” created a rich legacy full of energy and humor that not only marked an entire generation but continued to gain new fans even after the band’s split in 2010.

Although the group resumed touring in 2019, this year is their most monumental yet, as they celebrate the 30th anniversary of their debut album “I Should Coco” (1995), which defined an entire era.
