Three Days Grace formed in 1997 as an evolution of Groundswell. In 2003, they released their eponymous debut album which was an instant success, thanks to the massive hit “I Hate Everything About You”, propelling the band into three years of continuous touring. Upon returning to the studio, the band drew on their contrasting experiences during this period, as well as frontman Adam Gontier’s personal battles with addiction, to craft the critically acclaimed “One-X” (2006), one of their most iconic and beloved albums, which defined their sound and identity.
The band’s success continued with Life Starts Now (2009) and Transit of Venus (2012). However, Gontier’s departure in 2013 — which turned out to be temporary — and the addition of Matt Walst as his replacement marked a new creative period for the band. This was reflected in the releases “Human” (2015), “Outsider” (2018) and “Explosions” (2022), which highlighted their ability to evolve while maintaining their characteristic dynamic and deeply charged sound.
Following Gontier’s return in 2024 and Walst’s continued role as co-vocalist, Three Days Grace released the album “Alienation”, an album that confirmed that they remain one of the most influential acts in alternative metal/rock. In recent years, the band has attracted a new wave of youthful fans thanks to the timeless nature of their themes and the irresistible energy of their live performances.
