For the past 15 years, While She Sleeps have been a defining presence in the British metal scene – and beyond. Since their debut, “The North Stands for Nothing EP” (2010), the Sheffield-based quintet – comprising vocalist Loz Taylor, guitarists Sean Long and Mat Welsh, bassist Aaran Mckenzie and drummer Adam Savage – has continuously evolved. Combining the raw energy of punk with the power of metalcore, they’ve created a distinctive sound integrating pop, electronics and razor-sharp lyrics that form a fundamental part of their identity.
Staying true to their DIY principles, they manage everything through their own label, Sleeps Brothers. On their sixth and most recent album, “Self Hell” (2024), While She Sleeps expand their musical horizons even further, incorporating symphonic elements, hardcore and synth-rock, without ever losing their ability to create stadium-prepared anthems.
Following an impressive performance at Download Pilot, which The Guardian described as “ as undeniably Pilot’s finest hour – if not the finest in the entire Download lineage”, and a sold-out show to 10,000 fans at London’s Alexandra Palace, While She Sleeps continue to prove that authenticity and artistic integrity are the keys to a successful journey in the contemporary metal scene.
