Overgrown and Sylosis, the new additions to Release Athens 2026
Release Athens 2026 welcomes two more metal acts to Plateia Nerou. On Sunday, June 28th, Overgrown, the rising British nu-metal/grunge outfit, will join Three Days Grace and Black Veil Brides, while on Tuesday, June 30th, Sylosis, led by the acclaimed Josh Middleton, are added to the all-star night featuring Megadeth and Sepultura.
Overgrown are one of the freshest names to emerge from the new British metal scene, already drawing attention with singles such as “Pieces” and “Breathe.” Blending heavy riffs, melodic hooks and a distinct aesthetic reminiscent of 2000s nu metal and alternative rock, the quartet has quickly earned a reputation as a particularly powerful live act. Following a series of performances and tours in recent months, Overgrown are now preparing for the first major festival shows of their career, including Release Athens 2026.

Sylosis have long been regarded as one of the leading forces in contemporary British metal. Led by guitarist Josh Middleton, who was also a member of Architects from 2018 to 2023, the band has developed a distinctive sound blending thrash, melodic death metal and progressive elements, through albums such as “Conclusion Of An Age,” “Edge Of The Earth,” “Monolith” and “Cycle Of Suffering.”
This year, they returned with their new album, “The New Flesh,” a record born out of the relentless live activity of recent years and one that perfectly captures the band’s most aggressive and raw side. This summer, Sylosis embark on the biggest and most ambitious tour of their career to date, ready to take the next step as one of modern metal’s most uncompromising and formidable acts.
